Breast Cancer Awareness Update

I've been "online" for roughly ten years. I met some very dear ladies when I first logged onto AOL in a DOOL chat room. Some I have even had the pleasure of meeting in person. We've shared so much through the years, ups and downs, new babies and even sadness. We "talk " about anything and everything. Today I'd like to share one of our recent "conversations"

Pardon the caps, it was easier to cut and paste.

LINDA DO NOT PASS ON YOUR MAMMO, MY GF IS NOW DYING OF CANCER AS SHE LET HER MAMMO GO FOR 2 YEARS GOT BREAST CANCER , THEN A MASTECTOMY THEN
REMISSION, THEN CANCER ALL THROUGH HER BODY, NOW LESS THEN 2 MOS TO LIVE SHE IS 59 AND IT MAKES ME SICK TO GO SEE HER . SHE IS WITH HOSPICE NOW AND SHE IS OR I SHOULD SAY WAS GORGEOUS, WONDERFUL FAMILY, EVERYTHING, JUST STUBBORN, I BEGGED DEBBIE GO GET YOUR MAMMO, I WILL I WILL AND SHE DIDN'T . I WANT TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO, BUT THAT WOULD BE SO CRUEL. SOMETIMES SHE IS LUCID AND MOST OF THE TIME SHE IS SLEEPING AS SHE IS IN SO MUCH PAIN. I AM SO MAD AT HER. I AM MISSING HER SO MUCH.

I was due this summer so I am still good. I see my regular Dr in Nov. and I will have her draw up the paperwork and go then. I wont skip it. I know the consequences. I'm sorry about your friend. It is hard to watch a friend suffer like that

How sad.
Its just wrong.

HOW IRONIC, I SENT THIS LAST NITE AND DEBBIE DIED THIS AM.

Readers I beg of you, do not become another Debbie. Go for that mammo, feel yourself up in the shower. An ounce of prevention truly is worth a pound of cure and you are worth your weight in gold!

Rest in Peace, Debbie.

LOL @ feel yourself up in the shower :-D

I'm still young (31) so I don't yet get mammos, but when the time comes, I'll be sure to go!

Awesome reminder for all us women though. Thank you for posting this.

what an important message! I had a scare while breastfeeding my middle child and was seen by a doctor, then had a breast ultrasound done and it didn't show up as cancer, and the lump ended up going away (they had some fancy name for it but I can't recall now, fibrioma or something like that???). I swore I wouldn't be lax about self-exams ever again, but I'm sad to admit that I HAVE. This is great reminder for me, thank you

I do and always will. And I live by the 'feel yourself up in the shower' creed. Early prevention really is key.
Thanks for sharing this. If it makes just one person go, then you did good.

I've sponsored a high school friend of mine when she's done the Avon Walk for the last five years. We lost a mutual close friend too early in life.
