Down Under

G'day mates! Time for another geography lesson on The Avenue. Today we're going to talk about Tasmania, Australia's only island state.

Tasmania is a heart-shaped island of lush green valleys, uncrowded towns and villages and undeveloped coastlines. It is one of the world's most mountainous islands although the peaks do not tower to great heights.

When traveling to Tasmania there are many thrifty options for overnight accommodations.

Hobart Accommodation

Hobart is a place of yachts, fishing boats and cafes by the sea for sipping cappuccinos.

Launceston Accommodation

Launceston serves as the commercial hub for the north of Tasmania, and like many parts of the state, is becoming a major tourist center.

or

Devonport Accommodation

Devonport is primarily known as the port for the Spirit of Tasmania ferries.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit the edge of the world it will be an experience you will always remember.

I really, really wanna go there!

And no, Mondays aren't the only days I work, though I WISH. ;) And Daniel, the guy who washes my car? He's a sweetheart...and since I haul customers around weekly, it's only right that he washes it. I can send him to you, if you'd like...though it might be a little far!! Thanks for coming by today, girlfriend! Have a good one...

That looks like a very different, very amazing place. Maybe I'll put that on my list of places to go before I die...after all, I already married the Tasmanian Devil!

What is this animal that I am looking at, Megryansmom? I see no description of this crazy beast in your post.

If we travel to Tasmania together, should I bring my Mace for protection?

Are you being paid for this post? lol.

Seriously, I have only one question:

Is that where the Tasmanian Devil comes from? Cause I never knew he was Australian. He speaks all "*^%$%&*&&" and you really can't make out the accent.

Hobart is certainly a great place. I've put together a site around things to do & things you must see (such as the botanical gardens) - take a look let me know what you think. Hopefully it will only want to make you want to go there even more! The URL is http://hobartaccommodation.net.au
