BlogHer 2009-Chicago Style

145 days til BlogHer 2009

This July 24-25 marks the 5th annual BlogHer Conference held in my hometown, Chicago, Illinois. Welcome Bloggers to my beautiful city, home to world class museums, countless parks, TWO zoos, although one is technically not in the city. The Serious (Sears, for the grown ups) Tower, The John Hancock Center, and the famous Water Tower, a landmark that survived The Great Chicago Fire.

Da Bears, Da Bulls, the Cubbies. Oh yeah, we have the Blackhawks hockey too and one more team, who's name escapes me right now. Sorry. We have The Magnificent Mile, a GIANT bean in Millennium Park, Oak Street Beach, Navy Pier and Buckingham Fountain.

Then there's the FOOD. Oh my gawd the food. We have Pizza. Pizza like you can't even imagine, Chicago Style Deep Dish, or thin crust, Lou Malnati's, Unos, Giordano's, Gino's, Connie's and Home Run Inn to name a few. We have Little Italy on Taylor Street (you have to try the Italian Ice!), Greek Town, China Town, we have hot dogs at Portillo's and you can't leave without having a Maxwell Street Polish. I think I just gained 20 lbs thinking about it.

BlogHer 2009-In Real Life is going to be AWESOME!

Unfortunately, I won't be in attendance. After much deliberation, the checkbook said no and the credit card isn't even speaking to me :(

BUT! Because it's in Chicago I plan on hanging around outside Friday night and Saturday like a desperate groupie in hope of meeting some of the wonderful bloggers. If you're fortunate enough to attend BlogHer 2009, look for me, I'll be the one with the puppy dog eyes, panhandling for train fare back to J-town.

My checkbook and credit card seem to be a bit, um, disgruntled with me as well. When I mentioned the conference and the airfare they shrieked and ran out of the house. I took that as a definite NO!

And I'm sorry for the loss of your friend yesterday.

We're definitely meeting up! I'n not sure I'm actually going to the conference either, I think I'll just pay $50 to go to the cocktail parties Friday and Saturday nights! I'll be staying right on Lake Shore Drive so you and me are hooking up, sister.

I love blogging but see no need to ever attend a BlogHer event... just seems like a lot of hoo haa to me, but I never was one to attend any gatherings of this nature.... Have fun being a groupie.

Even though I could pass on the hotel room, it's not in my finances either. The conference itself is much too expensive and I'm not a cocktail party type person.

If you're interested there is a group of us meeting up in Aurora in April. Check out my site for the link for details.

I would love to attend but since I am due on July 27th I don't think I would be good company. I just have to give a shout out to Portillo's they just built one here and I love it. I always get the chili dog and french fries and it is so good. I am missing it since being pregnant my doctor said no hot dogs so I guess that is what my first meal will be after the baby arives.

I'll keep any eye out for you and your puppy dog eyes. I'll bet you'll meet a lot of bloggers hanging around!

It would be fun to attend, even if it is just hanging outside!

I feel for you. I'm hoping to make it but have made zero (yep, that's ZERO) plans so far. I do remember last year a ton of places giving away passes to the conference, so... keep your chin up. Otherwise, have fun being the BlogHer stalker! ;)

I want to go so bad too but I can't afford it either. It's just not in the cards.

I'm afraid I won't be going either...the trip just won't fit in with my Frugal Friday theme. Maybe in 2010!

It is a great place to visit, but I wont be there either.
Broke as a joke here in the beach. Sucks.

That sounds like lots of fun, but I won't be there either. You have however made me want to visit Chicago if only to try some of that fabulous pizza!
