Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

As promised, another session of Crafting with TOF. Hey TOF what are we making?

Mmm, make reindeer, Mema!

Notice the careful placement of the eyes. It's hard to craft AND take pictures, so we'll jump right to the finished product. Another ornament for our tree.

In case you'd like to duplicate this Picasso, you'll need:

a paper lunch bag
construction paper (red and black)
some red ribbon
a pipe cleaner
one sheet of newspaper
a Sharpie
glue
and one set of small hands

Trace the small hands onto the red construction paper and cut out. Cut 2 black dots for eyes and one shiny red nose. Take the paper bag and fold the two corners of the flap (which is actually the bottom of the bag) inward, to form the reindeer's head. See above photo. Glue the small hands, which are now antlers, to the back of the bag, glue eyes and nose, draw a mouth using the Sharpie. Crumple the newspaper and stuff it inside the bag, tie at the bottom with ribbon. A bell would have been cute, but our resources are limited here on The Avenue. For the hanger, cram a pipe cleaner into the back of Rudolph's head, in one end and out about an inch over, twist ends together. Ooooo and ahhh, have lunch, let it dry. Take a nap, it should be dry now. Hang on tree and oooo and ahhh some more.

Cool no? I amaze myself sometimes.

This is going to be hard to top. Tomorrow is Friday, I'm thinking a birthday card for Jesus. Nice and simple while I rack my brain for another something spectacular.

Very cute! Bravo TOF!

Obviously you don't live in the country. Put something like that on the porch where I live, and in 20 minutes it would be shot full of holes.

You're blog-rolled, my friend. For some reason I thought you were already there...but I do have some issues with keeping my head on straight lately... :)

super cute!

Emily did one in preschool one year where they traced their feet for the face/head of the reindeer, and then used painted handprints for the antlers up top super cute!

ooh, and another little kid handprint project for the holidays: make green handprints (either trace and cut out exactly, or use painted prints and cut out loosely) and glue them all around a paper plate like a wreath, then they take their thumbs and dab on bit of red for holly berries.

ps TOF did a great job with the eyes! Jared just brought home a paper gingerbread man on which he'd glued buttons and whatnot for decorations, and the two button eyes and the little stick mouth were all centered right where the gingerbread man's neck would be. LOL!!!

Your craftiness is terrifying (in a there-no-way-i-could-be-crafty-like-that sort of way)
