Pass Me an Ibuprofen

The clouds have parted, the rain has stopped. It could only mean one thing here on The Avenue, break out the paint brushes and finish painting that fort you promised the kids TWO weeks ago.

You see, TWO weeks ago, as an avid shopper on J-Town Yard Sales, I noticed that a neighbor was selling her play fort for a very reasonable price. I marched over there, checked it out, handed over my payment and then enlisted in the help of Whynot and Durwood to get the monstrosity disassembled and hauled one block over to my yard.

In theory, my theory, where life is rainbows and roses and all construction jobs should only take an hour, this was going to be a one Saturday afternoon type of job. Until Whynot and Durwood removed my rose colored glasses and informed me that the fort needed some work. Some of the wood needed to be replaced and "you are going to paint it aren't you?"

The menfolk whisked off to Menard's for the supplies, some various sized boards, nails, bolts, paint brushes and a gallon of BLUE paint, because, "TOF likes BLUE!"

Then most of that first Saturday afternoon, Whynot and I painted, but we only got about half of the wood painted. Do you have any idea how boring and SLOWWW it is to watch paint dry? And then we had a baby and it rained and rained some more and there was that baby, oh and Mona came to visit and did I mention the baby?

So this past Saturday we were back to painting, so that on Sunday the "funstruction crew" could reassemble what our neighbors have now dubbed, "Fort MemaPa"

It's coming along, a few more boards, some bolts to attach the slide, screw on the newly spray painted climbing pegs and a little touch up painting and we are going to have the coolest fort on The Avenue.

And the look on TOF's face is PRICELESS!

too fun! You guys are the best. He's gonna remember this forever. My grandparents had the COOLEST tree house (three levels, though they WERE pretty tiny, but STILL!) when I was growing up.
