Do you know your cholesterol number? High cholesterol is one of the major controllable factors for coronary heart disease. By knowing your numbers and assessing your risks now, you can work with your doctor to significantly reduce your chances of getting heart disease.
Unfortunately, women without adequate health care may not get regular cholesterol screenings, but here's how you can help.
Now through January 31, 2010, for every code entered at Cheerios Helping Hearts, Cheerios will donate $1, up to $200,000, to raise awareness for heart disease and provide free cholesterol screenings for women in need, through its partnership with Women Heart. Codes will be featured inside specially marked boxes of Cheerios cereal.
What's in it for you? I am hosting a great giveaway. THREE lucky readers will receive a freshwater pearl bracelet with heart charm (pictured above) from Charity Charms, which donates a portion of it's proceeds to charities. By wearing this beautiful bracelet you can show your support of women's heart health.
My rules are very simple:
Earn ONE entry by leaving me a comment telling me what it is you do to keep your heart healthy. You must do this FIRST, before earning additional entries. Be sure to leave a valid email address if you're a no reply blogger. You can't win if I can't find you.
Earn ONE extra entry by following my blog and leaving a comment, if you already follow, thank you, but please leave me a comment reminding me of this.
Earn ONE extra entry by following me on Twitter, again remind me if you already do.
Earn FIVE extra entries by writing a post about a woman you know that has battled and/or overcome heart disease and link to my blog.
That's it! Easy Peasy.
This contest will run until March 10, which just happens to be the 20th anniversary of the day Whynot stole my heart.

The best thing I do for my heart is a combination of reducing the number of deep fried foods I eat, and that's hard cause I ♥ onion rings and fried chicken. I also use the eliptical in my basement three times a week and have managed to drop 15 lbs!

ReplyDeleteWe keep our hearts healthy by taking walks daily as a family, as well as eating lots of vegetables and eating cheerios for breakfast most days of the week.
ReplyDeleteI follow you too.
ReplyDeleteI walk every day on my treadmill (or outside once the winter goes away), and watch what I eat vigilantly!
ReplyDeleteI keep my heart healthy by eating a good diet. This is going to sound crazy, but I eat a lot of salt and drink a lot of Gatorade. I don't have enough blood volume and my blood pressure is too low. I need lots of salt and fluids to keep my heart rate down.
ReplyDeleteTo keep my heart healthy I exercise. All the time. I want to be around when my kids grow up. Another thing I do is eat well. Junk is hardly ever seen in our home. I know it doesn't seem like much, but both of those together make a huge difference. I love that your giveaway is promoting something so great. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI keep my heart healthy by exercising... and I gave up soda!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get healthier. I have completely given up soda, of all kinds. This is huge for me. I used to drink sometimes as many as 6 cans of Diet soda a day. Stopped cold turkey. None, don't miss it either. I drink gallons of water, I bought a treadmill and make sure my behind is on it at least 3 times a week. Trying to eat a little healthier too. We love cheerios at our house. I also love Pearls.
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Spring Fling.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Now after all this talk of healthy, I am giving away a yummy giveaway on my blog.Girl Scout Cookies.. I know Shame. Moderation is good.
Heart health has become very important to me since the death of my 31 year old husband in August of a heart attack. Since then i have been learning a lot about heart related issues both for men and women.
